We need to demand that our public education funding suits the unique needs of our district. This is the exact reason for the existence of local representation. The formula the state of Minnesota uses to fund public education works for some districts, but it does not work for us. We are a group of residential communities, so we are leaning far too heavily on homeowners to pay for this enormous expense. As your legislator, I would fight for per pupil funding from the State to ensure we keep our schools fully funded without relying on us to pick up the slack when the State sends us too little.
